Ellipsis & Substitution (I like it and so does she)
Ellipsis dan substitution adalah dua cara untuk menghindari pengulangan dalam kalimat dan membuat tulisan atau percakapan menjadi lebih ringkas. Ellipsis menghilangkan kata-kata yang bisa dipahami dari konteks, sedangkan substitution mengganti kata atau frasa dengan kata pengganti seperti 'do', 'so', 'one', atau 'that'.

Notes:
- Ellipsis menghilangkan bagian kalimat yang bisa dipahami tanpa perlu disebut ulang.
- Substitution mengganti kata atau frasa yang sudah disebut sebelumnya dengan kata ganti seperti 'do', 'so', 'one', 'that', dll.
- 'So do I', 'neither did he', 'nor will we' adalah contoh substitution yang umum dalam kalimat formal.
- 'One' dan 'ones' menggantikan kata benda tunggal dan jamak yang disebut sebelumnya.
- Ellipsis dan substitution umum dalam percakapan sehari-hari dan penulisan untuk menghindari repetisi yang membosankan.
- Perhatikan tense dan subjek saat menggunakan auxiliary/modal dalam substitution agar sesuai.
Examples:
- I like coffee and so does she.
- He plays the guitar and she does too.
- She went to the concert and I did too.
- I’ll take the blue one, not the red one.
- He didn’t pass the exam but his brother did.
- She enjoys reading more than I do.
- They will join the event and we will too.
- He likes classical music. I do as well.
- I’ve seen that movie. So have I.
